Aqua Zumba
Known as the Zumba "Pool Party", Aqua Zumba gives new meaning to the idea of an invigorating workout. Splashing, stretching, twisting, even shouting, laughing, hooting and hollering are often heard during an Aqua Zumba class. Integrating the Zumba formula & philosophy with traditional aqua fitness disciplines, Aqua Zumba blends it all together into a safe, challenging, water-based workout that's cardio-conditioning, body toning, and most of all, exhilarating beyond belief. Instructor: Kathy Frank

Arthritis Aquatics Program
This class is designed to accommodate the abilities of persons with arthritis and other related diseases. Individuals work at their own pace and are taught in a group setting to help improve muscular strength, endurance & flexibility. Participation may also help with pain management and help to relieve arthritic symptoms. The program is held in the GRC's indoor heated pool. The pool was designed to accommodate many water activities, including: lap swimming, swim lessons, water aerobics, leisure swimming, etc. The National Arthritis Foundation has developed water temp standards for this class (min of 83 F). & the GRC attempts to meet those standards. However, there may be times when the water fall may fall below 83 F due to mechanical issues. The NAF recommends that participants keep moving in the water throughout the class and if necessary, wear a hat, leotards, gloves or t-shirt to maintain body heat. Instructor: Kathy Frank

Arthritis Exercise
Developed for people with Arthritis, this program helps maintain fitness while reducing arthritis pain. The class offers warm-up, endurance, cool-down, stretch & relaxation. Created and approved by the Arthritis Foundation. Wear comfortable clothing, supportive shoes and bring water. Instructor: Kathy Frank

Cardio Drumming                                                                                                                                                                         What is cardio drumming? It brings together drumsticks, an exercise ball, and an exercise ball stand to create one of the most fun workouts you'll ever do. Using the exercise ball and the floor as your drum, and mixing in fun moves, cardio drumming turns keeping a rhythm into a workout you won't want to stop. Instructor:  Ronni Williams & Lori Bias

Express Cycling & Sculpt                                                                                                                                                                       30 minutes of cycling (can be done at your own pace and fitness level) combined with 10-15 minutes of muscle conditioning (arms, abs, glutes etc.) using various types of equipment.  Good times, great music, fun workout!  Instructor: Ann Neu

Instructor: Ronni Williams

SilverSneakers Circuit-(Advanced)                                                                                                                                                       An interval type of physical training that involves high intensity exercise alternated with rest periods and is highly effective in conditioning the cardiovascular system while increasing muscle strength.  Active rest between high intensity work allows the heart rate to drop, giving the participant the opportunity to recover before the next high intensity interval.  These types of workouts can include a mix of cardio exercises with resistance training.  Instructor: Lori Bias

SilverSneakers Potpourri Yoga Medley (Boom Mind Level)
Are you interested in trying different styles of yoga?  This 45 minute class each Tuesday in November will introduce you to 5 styles of yoga.

Wk 1 Hatha Yoga - In this class, postures are practiced to align, strengthen and promote flexibility in the body. Breathing techniques and meditation are also integrated. You can expect an emphasis on simplicity, repetition, and ease of movement. Full-body relaxation and balance are the goals, as we make a full circuit of the body’s range of motion with standing postures, twists, backbends, forward folds, and hip openers.

Wk 2 Hatha/Vinyasa - Vinyasa ( translates to “flowing with breath”) is a dynamic style of Hatha yoga which joins physical postures, or asanas, with inhales and exhales, creating a steady internal rhythm for the practice. This Flow class is designed to cultivate heat in the body with creative sequences involving sun salutations, standing and seated postures, back bending, arm balancing, and a strong focus on the power of breath awareness.

Wk 3 Slow Flow and Restore - This class will flow slowly through  postures designed to build internal heat slowly and gently.  Meditation and Pranaymana (breath work) techniques are taught to promote relaxation.  Ending with Restorative Yoga postures which settle the body and mind.

Wk 4 Yogalates - Combining yoga and Pilates is a natural fit because both yoga and Pilates require us to focus on the breath, precise movements, proper alignment and our core muscles as we flow through this yoga/pilates fusion

Wk 5 Yoga Ball - Using a stability ball as a prop to traditional yoga postures give a supportive "feel" to these postures. It requires the ability to sit and stand independently from a free standing stability ball.  The stability ball is a great way to get extra support for moves that require endurance and flexibility, and it also adds a balance challenge to some postures. The lack of stability only adds to the workout, firing up different muscles and strengthening the connective tissue that supports the joints of the body.  Instructor:  Bonnie Finneran

SilverSneakers Spin
Indoor Cycling or Spinning is a group exercise class with stationary bikes. The intensity of the workout is influenced by cadence (or pedal rate), resistance of the bike's flywheel, and by the rider's body position (seated or standing while pedaling). Participants determine their own levels of exertion while the instructor encourages and motivates class members throughout the session. Instructor: Lori Bias

SilverSneakers Strength (Advanced)
A strength class is primarily an anaerobic activity that uses weights, resistance tools and one's own body weight to induce muscular contraction, which builds the strength & endurance of muscles. This type of class will help increase bone density, increase metabolism, improve joint function and provide significant functional benefits for improved activities of daily living. Instructor: Lori Bias

SilverSneakers Tai Chi                                                                                                                                                                      Tai chi is a mind-body practice that originated in ancient China.  It is appropriate for people of almost any age or condition.  Tai chi is a type of low-impact and weight-bearing exercise that began as a martial art.  As it developed, it took on the purpose of enhancing physical and mental health.  Tai chi involves slow, gentle movements, deep breathing, and meditation.  Instructor: Mark Henry
